General Information


Location

Ghana is located on the coast of West Africa, has an area of ​​about 239,460 km² and a population of 29 million (53:47 rural-urban ratio respectively). It is located in the center of the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, and shares land borders with three countries: Burkina Faso to the north, Ivory Coast to the west, and Togo to the east. To the south are the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean.

 

Climate

The climate is tropical and warm with diverse flora. Precipitation patterns vary but are heaviest in the southwest with an annual average of over 2,000 mm.

 

Society and People

The Ghanaian society consists of multiple ethnic groups, the most predominant of which are: Ashanti (47.5%), Mole-Dangbon (16.6%), Ewe (13.9%).

 

Religions

Most of the Ghanaian population is Christian, with a percentage of 71.2%, mostly Protestant, while the percentage of Muslims is 17.6%, and 5.2% of the local religions.

 

Languages

English is the official language of Ghana, along with the many local languages. Ghana has about 50 indigenous languages, the most important of which are: Akan, Ewe, Ga, Dagari, and Dagpani.
