Travel Tips

  • Yellow fever vaccination is required for all arrivals to Ghana, except for children under the age of one (1) year.
  • Entry visas to the Republic of Ghana are issued in all Ghanaian missions abroad, and diplomatic passports are exempted from visa fees.
  • There are luxury hotels in Accra, the capital of Ghana, and advance reservations can be completed through websites to ensure that you will find accommodation throughout your stay in the country.   • Foreign currencies can be exchanged for local currency in one of the exchange bureaus, and prices vary according to the season. There are also some banks and hotels that provide currency exchange services, but at a different exchange rate, usually lower than the exchange bureaus. Be very careful not to exchange foreign currency offered by black market dealers in streets, in order to avoid exposure to theft and counterfeiting.
  • Bank credit cards such as Visa Card, MasterCard and others are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and commercial malls.

Places of entertainment

  • Kakum National Park: The park is a rainforest that extends over an area of 357 square kilometers and has trees reach a height of 65 meters.

    Activities in the park include guided walking tours, providing an opportunity to see Ghana's indigenous plant life and various animals.

  • Wli Waterfalls: Falls with a height of about 1,600 feet, located 20 km from Hoho in the Wli Nature Reserve. It is located on the edge of the Agomatsa Forest Reserve, which is home to hundreds of fruit bats and a few monkeys and antelopes.
  • Aburi Botanical Gardens: The botanical garden dates back to a century ago and offers a rich collection of tropical plants that attract different species of birds and butterflies, located about an hour's drive from Accra.
  • White Sands Resort: This exclusive beach resort is quiet and secluded and offers the best coastal life in Ghana, about a two-hour drive from Accra.
